Thurrock firms invited to big business networking event

THURROCK Council and Essex Chambers of Commerce have teamed up for a special event designed to boost the borough’s economy.
More than 15 major organisations looking for suppliers of goods and services will be at the London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury on October 11, and local Thurrock companies will be able to come along and see if they can do business with them.
Big organisations such as AMEC, Canute Group, GR Carr, Health Village, Morgan Sindall, National Express c2c, Port of Tilbury, RWE nPower, South Essex College, Vopak and Wincanton are among those taking part.
There will also be a number of themed seminars taking place throughout the day, offering tips, practical advice and guidance on how to win new contracts.
These seminars will be open to all businesses, whether they have booked an appointment or not.
Around 150 businesses in Thurrock are expected to attend the event.
Thurrock Cllr John Kent, leader of Thurrock Council said: “It’s the first time Thurrock has hosted an event of this kind, which will provide businesses with an amazing opportunity to meet buyers from major organisations, who have a range of contract opportunities on the table.
“Working in partnership with Essex Chamber of Commerce I am confident this event will be a great success and deliver real outcomes on the promises we made that the Thurrock Business Conference 2011.”
Denise Rossiter, Chief Executive of Essex Chambers of Commerce, added: “We are delighted to be working with Thurrock Council in giving local businesses this opportunity to do business with some of the major organisations in the Thurrock area.
“Business is good for Essex and this event will help many businesses raise their profile and gain new contracts.”
