Woman to walk for hospice
7:00am Saturday 18th August 2012 in News
A MUM is taking part in a sponsored walk to raise cash for the “fantastic” hospice treating her son.
Sue Yeldham, 58, from Corringham, is putting her best foot forward at this year's Girls Night Out event in Chelmsford.
Ladies are encouraged to dress in pink as part of a 6km sponsored walk, which sees hundreds of women set off from the city centre.
Mrs Yeldham, of Carisbrooke Drive, has persuaded nine friends and relatives to walk and raise cash.
They will all be fundraising for Js Hospice, based in Great Baddow, which gives free care and support to young adults with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
Sue’s son Robert, 29, suffers from Huntington’s dis-ease, a hereditary neurological disorder that causes progressive degeneration of cells in the brain and slowly impairs a person’s ability to walk, think, talk and reason.
Mrs Yeldham said: “Js has been fantastic. It has really been there for us.”
The event takes place on September 15.
