Fayre first for rugby club

THURROCK Rugby club are to host a summer fayre at their Oakfield ground.

A variety of arts and crafts stalls, with food and a licensed bar, plus a stage that will feature local music talent and nationally renowned artists, such as X Factor finalist Rachel Hylton, will feature at the event which will take place on Saturday, August 26.

The fayre will enable the rugby club to support its chosen charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer, with a percentage of gate receipts being donated.

It is hoped the fayre can become an annual event, which if successful this year, will be even bigger and better next year.

Blackshots councillor Joy Redsell said: “We are really pleased this event is being planned in our ward and hope the organisers can attract as many residents as possible to attend. There will be something for everyone so the whole family will be thoroughly entertained.”

Event organiser Derek Marshall said: “We really want to make this a local event for local people.

“If all goes well, then it would be fantastic to give everyone a bigger and better event in 2013.”

The event will take place at Thurrock Rugby Club, in Oakfield, Long Lane, and runs from noon until 7pm.

Entry is £3 for adults and £1.50 for children. Parking is free. To book a pitch, call Cllr Redsell on 07795 644305.
