Fair hope for jobseekers at port

DP World will be holding a jobs fair tomorrow (Saturday, July 14) from 9am to 6pm at its Manorway base in Stanford-le-Hope.

Thurrock Council is encouraging job-seekers to register to attend the event by logging on to www.LondonGateway.com The jobs fair marks the start of London Gateway’s own major recruitment drive that will see an initial 200 new staff join the existing team of 50 in the coming months.

Attendees will be asked to register their interest for roles, which are a mixture of manual, semi-skilled, skilled, supervisory and management roles including lashers, quay crane drivers, electricians, mechanics, IT professionals, HR specialists, terminal planners and other roles required to operate, maintain and manage Britain’s new global shipping port.

Training will be provided for many of the roles to ensure world-class standards of service are delivered from day one.

During the fair, people will also be able to meet with existing London Gateway team members.

Victoria Tobin, human resources manager at DP World London Gateway said: “We are recruiting across the board and have roles that cater for many skill sets and varying degrees of experience.

“This fair is very good news for Thurrock, Essex, London, and the wider UK.”
