Housing surgeries set to start

THE first of Thurrock Council’s new housing surgeries will be held in Ockendon on Saturday, July 14.

Thurrock Council now has a new portfolio for housing, Cllr Val Morris-Cook, and a new director of housing, Barbara Brownlee.

Both women intend to travel the borough through the year inviting tenants to come and see them.

The first surgery will be between 10am and 2pm at the Ockendon Forum in Derwent Parade.

Cllr Morris-Cook said: “This is something I’ve long wanted the council to do. Yes the council has housing offices and yes tenants have their own councillors.

“But this will give the people we provide housing for the chance to come and speak direct to those who make the decisions.”

The first surgery is aimed at those in Ockendon, Belhus and Aveley, but is open to all.
