Workers demonstrate on Tuesday
WORKERS from the stricken Coryton oil refinery have taken part in a second day of demonstrations today.
A band of 30 strong workers camped outside the Esso Fuels Terminal in London Road, Purfleet.
It is unclear what disruption the protest caused, but for the hour-and-a-half that the workers were outside the terminal, only small lorries were leaving.
Unite, the union that represents workers at Coryton are attempting to raise awareness.
They are appealing for the government to intervene and prop up the refinery, saving the 850 jobs that are set to go as the plant closes.
As of 11.59pm tonight, there will be no crude oil left for the plant to process and with no new shipment of crude oil due.
According to PWC, the administrators trying to salvage a deal for the plant, parts of the refinery are set to be "idled" with only limited operations continuing.
