Horndon-on-the-Hill Feast and Fayre approaches
8:00am Saturday 9th June 2012 in News
THE Horndon-on-the-Hill Feast and Fayre is just around the corner.
On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June, the village will hold its annual celebration and with this being the year of the jubilee and Olympics, there is much to be joyous about.
This year, the fayre, which dates back to 1215, will see entertainment in the Swan pub and in its car park, with a live music night on Saturday evening and a festival of music and dance in the car park on Saturday afternoon.
Local groups such as JTD Dance Academy, Gable Hall School performers and a Palmers College musical extravaganza will entertain the crowds on Saturday.
Entertainment on the High Road, which will be closed from 9am to 5pm on both days, will include Ferret racing and a Birds of Prey display, a swing band, Palmers College street theatre performances, a climbing wall for kids and bouncy castles.
Sunday will see the Kayzar Street Dancers strut their stuff in the Swan car park who are sharing a bill with St Clere’s school and the Wickford Majorettes amongst others.
High Road plays host to the Thurrock Spectrum Brass band on Sunday and at 11am the Horndon 10k runners set off from outside the Old School.
Amongst other entertaining events at the fayre, kids have the chance to bag themselves a jubilee prize if they can spot “Prince Charlie” in the crowd.
There will also be music and flower displays in the Church of St Peter & St Paul and a mini beer festival in the Bell Inn pub, High Road.
