Festival of drama set to excel
6:50am Tuesday 29th May 2012 in News
THURROCK Drama Festival kicks off on Sunday, June 10.
The week long festival, in its 18th year, will see a mixture of full length and one act plays performed from 7.30pm at the Thameside Theatre, in Orsett Road, Grays.
It opens with the Government Inspector, by Stagability Actors School, on the Sunday, followed by Don’t Dress For Dinner, by the Adhoc Players, on the Monday, and Shining City, by Bejou Productions, on Tuesday, June 12.
On Wednesday, June 13, it’s the turn of the host team, Thurrock Courts Players, with How The Other Half Loves.
On the Thursday, Super Troupers are up with the Ugly Duckling, followed by Too Much Punch For Judy, by Thurrock Youth Theatre.
On Friday, June 15, Thurrock Courts Players grace the stage again with Erica and Me, followed by the Paranoid and the Proposed, by the Blitzed Theatre Company. On the Saturday, Thurrock Youth Theatre present Hannah and Hanna, and the Lightnin Drama Group will perform A Bit of a Boob.
All the plays will be judged by adjudicator Paul Fowler.
Festival organiser John Scowen said: “Thurrock’s festival is still very new on the scene.
“Nevertheless it is getting more and more support and members of the audience and these other festivals are coming along to Thurrock to see this new festival.
“The festival once again will be the highlight in the drama calendar, and those of you who have not seen some of the talent should make an effort this year and go along.”
