VOLUNTARY and community groups in Thurrock have been granted a share of £30,000 in recognition of the difference they make to people’s lives.
The Bongo Community Association, Aveley Community Forum and Thurrock Women’s Aid are three of 79 organisations in the East of England selected to receive a share of £602,668.
Aveley Community Forum has received £10,000, which along with other sources of funding, will go towards the Altogether Aveley scheme, which will incorporate a bumper Diamond Jubilee party and the Aveley Games.
The Bongo Community Association, a voluntary organisation based in Grays, has been awarded £10,000 which will be spent on running activities for women to reduce their isolation.
IT and entertainment equipment, to be used as educational tools for children, will be purchased for the Thurrock Women’s Aid refuge, which received just under £10,000.
