    £10,000?
Just because a rod is handmade does not mean it has to be expensive. Even really good ones only retail in the hundreds. As for the "silver" Shimano reels...hmmm...
I have not heard of any but then they could have been specially commissioned. Even then I would still have to ask why silver? Even the most dedicated fishermen prefer decent, pristine, smooth mechanics over bling.
There is the possibility, of course, that some of the equipment stolen was very rare and antique but, call me a cynic, maybe the £10,000 figure was reached because the insurance company has been called in.
They've reported two of the items taken, probably the two that was closest to him, do you personally know how much else was taken?
    Very slanderous comments."

Fisherman devastated by £10,000 break-in

A DEVOTED fisherman has been left devastated after thieves stole £10,000 worth of his equipment.

Crooks broke into the house in Bevin Way, Stanford-le-Hope after removing locks and a window.

Once inside they stole the haul of fishing gear which the victim had spent a lifetime building up.

Among the haul were a handmade rod and silver Shimano reels.

The break-in happened between Wednesday April 25 and Thursday April 26.
