TALENTED students from Performers College are set to wow audiences at the Thameside Theatre with two new shows.
One group of performing arts students from the college, in Southend Road, Corringham, will be taking on the musical 9 to 5, made famous by the Dolly Parton film, while the dance theatre company will be showcasing 24, based on influential artists from the past 24 years who are no longer alive, including Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra and Whitney Houston.
The students, who are all about to graduate, gave surprised shoppers in Grays Shopping Centre a taste of what’s to come when they performed a number from each of the shows in the middle of the centre.
They even managed to keep their compsure and carry on when the CD player stopped mid-song.
Both shows are on at the theatre, in Orsett Road, Grays, this month, with 24 showing today (Saturday May 5), from 7.30pm.
On Friday, May 11, it’s the turn of the 9 to 5 cast, who will also perform on the Saturday. Both shows start at 7.30pm.
Tickets for all the shows are £14 each.
To book, call the college’s box office on 01375 672053.
Performers College offers full-time professional courses leading to the National Diploma in Professional Dance or the National Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre, in addition to its own Performers College Diploma.
The national diplomas are equivalent to a BA (hons) degree, and after they graduate, students can convert their diploma to a degree.
