Keys found in connection with sexual assault in Purfleet

The keys The keys

DETECTIVES investigating a case of sexual assault in Purfleet want to identify a set of keys found during a search of the area.

A 13-year-old girl was attacked whilst walking her dog in woodland off Centurion Way between 4pm and 8.30pm on Saturday 21 April.

The attacker approached her, assaulted her and then ran away.

The set of keys, found in the woods, have wording on a green tag which states "Roller Shutter / Workshop" while the number on the grey fob reads ‘244’.

Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Simon Werrett, said: "We’re not sure who these keys belong to and so need to rule them and their owner out of enquiries. They may belong to a completely innocent person who has previously walked in and around Centurion Way. We would like to reunite them with their rightful owner.

The attacker, who was wearing a black hoodie at the time, is described by police as white, around 30-years-old, over 5ft 2in and as having chubby fingers.

Anyone with information in connection with this sexual assault is urged to contact detectives at Brentwood’s Sexual Offences Investigation Team on 101.
