Dumping problem increasing on estate
3:50pm Thursday 26th April 2012 in News
A SOUTH Ockendon councillor believes fly-tipping on the Flowers Estate is out of control.
Tory Lynn Carr said there has been a problem with people dumping things on the estate for the last year, but said there has been a “major escalation” in the last three months.
She said: “I’m getting calls about people dumping things three to four times a week now, it’s things like carpets, pallets, and arm chairs.
“Nobody wants to live with that and it costs the council money to remove it, so ultimately it costs residents money.”
Cllr Carr, who is working with officers to eradicate the problem, has called on residents to report offenders.
She said: “People don’t have to give their name when they call. It’s up to everybody to put an end to this.”
To report an incident, call the council on 01375 652682 or 652955.
