Elderly woman injured in hit-and-run car crash

AN elderly woman was injured in a hit-and-run car crash.

A 64-year old woman was left shaken and her 87-year-old mother with injuries to her legs, after they were hit by a car while driving along Abbotts Drive, in Stanford le Hope.

The motorist, thought to be driving a dark coloured, new shape Ford Focus, smashed into the front near side of their car as he pulled out of Plaistow Close.

He then reversed and took off towards Corringham.

Police are looking for a white male aged between late 20s to 30s who will have recent damage to the front off side of his vehicle.

Officers believe he may have had a passenger in the car who is also male.

Pc Alistair Sims said: "It was very fortunate that neither the driver, nor her 87 year old mother were seriously injured but how callous of the other driver to drive off without even checking that they were not hurt.

“I would appeal to anyone who sees a car fitting the description with new damage to the front, or anyone with any other information to contact me on 101 at Corringham."

The incident happened at around 8am today.

.... if you ever do jury service no doubt the judge will instruct you on basing your verdict on the evidence presented before you and avoiding the hazards of jumping to conclusions.

In the meantime I have an open mind. It could be an apparently 'respectable' person too cowardly to face the consequences of their actions.

I hope the driver is caught and they get to the bottom of what happened here, and of course that the women in the car will be OK.

Sorry John, you did not read the Officers post properly, he listed all of the possibilities, and left the reader to ' you Guess'.
His disgusting person is totally right.
Hope the driver and the passenger are both OK.

... which is why I wrote apparently and placed respectable in inverted commas.

Remember that story a while ago of that GP with the eyesight problem who killed an old woman while driving hos Porsche.

OK he stayed at the scene but he should not have even been on the road. A pillar of the community in most people's eyes up until then no doubt.

My point is 'respectable' appearance or position in the community can hide a thoroughly bad person.

Possibly, but then why only list the worst negatives, why not list all the other possibilities if it was a truly open minded post?

But we can certainly all agree whatever the reasons this driver was disgusting and cowardly in leaving the scene and wish the two women a full recovery.

No, he received a two-year custodial sentence for causing death by dangerous driving.

There was a petition raised by some of his colleagues and patients basically saying what a good guy he was or something along those lines.

He had been driving for years with multiple eye problems and as a GP was in the best possible position to know the risks.

That was the only point I was making that bad driving and disgraceful behaviour are by no means confined to the 'usual suspects' sometimes the most unexpected people do dreadful things and they are just as much to blame.

I concede I might have misunderstood security's earlier post (but maybe not).

Hope the women will be OK and the driver is caught. Awful behaviour whoever they turn out to be.

I am sure it would be very much appreciated and it is a shame if the care of the sick rests on the vagaries of winning a bet.

Me and my husband already subscribe to the hospice at £20 a month along with 2 other monthly donations. Why are you such a vile horrible person ? I will stick to what I say, If Im wrong £100 will be given out my own pocket to the hospice. Dont have big eyes on people with money as we built up our security business in 1987. We now have 56 people working for us. Its been hard work but we made our money straight.

This is just deplorable, nothing less.

If you cause an accident, are involved in an accident etc, there are almost no reasons to leave the scene. (Unless you have a person dying in you car maybe, and are on your way to hospital...even then it's not cut and dry.)

At least no-one was seriously injured in this case.

I am not going to get into an argument with you on here because it so often happens on RTA stories and it is disrespectful to accident victims. If you think I am a fool as you wrote earlier or a vile and horrible person that is going to have to be your opinion. It is of no consequence to me.

Hope the women recover well and this driver is caught.

I can see no justification for removing it. I thought it was highly relevant. Why not email the editor or just repost it?

I can't see the post from stevenr61 to which you refer, maybe it has received a complaint and been removed.

Regarding your own post, I remember what it said but I cannot recall if you quoted someone else. If so, it might have been removed because it quoted the actual words of another post deemed to be offensive.

If a Somalian rapes a woman you should be allowed to say deport the bbasterd or if a peedo trys to get hold of a child then you should be allowed to say cut his bbollox off. Personal abuse is a no no.

I recall the comment now.

It was personal, vulgar and disrespectful to the victims of this incident, therefore I feel whoever reported it was correct in doing so.

If someone has a go at me I prefer to leave their comments up in the hope people will see how much they are showing themselves up. But there are limits and they are over stepped when it gets personal, especially against victims who have enough to contend with without some idiot trying to get clever.
