Thurrock 1sts 8, Witham 2 HOCKEY: WITH four teams being relegated, Tees needed a win to keep away from the relegation zone.
Witham started well scoring first with a well taken goal, but man of the match Andre Rudder pulled it level with a neat one-two with Matthew Gaut.
Thurrock applied the pressure which resulted in a solo goal effort from Christian Jenkins and slick passing allowed Kyle Taylor a simple tap in.
Gaut’s tireless work rate paid off with a fine goal and short corner specialist Jacob Agoro made it 5-1 at half time from a penalty corner.
With Tees controlling the majority of possession they scored a further three more goals from Rudder, Jenkins and a screamer from James Upton into the top left corner.
Tees defence switched off briefly which allowed Witham to score a late consolation goal.
