3:20pm Wednesday 29th February 2012 in News
A MAN who was found dead near Ockendon railway station has now been officially named by police.
The body of 36-year-old Gary Coombs, from South Ockendon, was discovered close to the railway line in Pike Lane, Upminster, around 9.25am on Sunday, February 19.
It is believed he was struck by a train the night before.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
Gary was known for his good deeds in the community, including helping out at the town’s Royal Oak pub when it was vandalised, as well as fundraising for charity.
