SOUTH Essex College has moved to quash claims that a new campus in Grays town centre would not have room for all its courses.

The Gazette contacted the college after receiving a host of letters and calls expressing concern there would not be room in the new building for courses like bricklaying and carpentry.

But the college said the new venue will actually improve facilities for these courses. Spokesman Dean Newman said: “Far from reducing courses in these areas, we will be improving them.

“For example, we will have new and improved brick, engineering and carpentry workshops and will also be able to offer improved provision of courses to local employers.

“All these areas include better facilities and with it a better skilled future local workforce.”
