WE were delighted to see coverage given to our Here for Hereford Initiative recently, for which we are very grateful.

However we would like to clarify a few points.

The group is made up of ordinary Herefordians from different walks of life who are disenchanted with many aspects of the proposed plans for transport, leisure, housing and heritage.

We have been disappointed with the lack of proper, open and informed debate on these issues, which affect the lives of all those who live or work within Herefordshire. We feel that Herefordshire offers more local opportunities that could be built on the county’s historic strengths than are currently being recognised and which may be at risk from current proposals.

We are non-political and all we have done, as we are entitled to do, is read all the background reports on these subjects and consider objectively, without political bias, the information which they contain.

We have no special expertise other than an ability to read and assemble the facts from across all areas of the council.

RUPERT ANTON, Spokesman, Here For Hereford.
