THE Foot Tappers and Blue Ambassadors marching bands are holding a charity reunion night on Friday, November 26.
The event, in aid of Little Havens Children’s Hospice in Thundersley, will be at Corringham Village Hall, in Springhouse Road, Corringham, from 7.30pm to11.30pm.
The bands have organised the night in memory of two long serving officers of the 2nd Grays Boys’ Brigade – The Foot Tappers, Ernie Hewitt, who was the captain for more than 40 years, and Peter Wallis MBE, who was a Life Boy in Ernie’s company and re-associated with the 2nd Grays Boys Brigade in 1977 as an officer of the band.
All past members are invited to the reunion, which will feature live entertainment and a buffet.
Steve Hall, the bandmaster from 1977 to 1990, said: “This reunion charity night will be a great opportunity for past members to meet up again and remember the many happy times spent practicing, performing and competing, in memory of our colleagues.”
Founder member, Paul Wynne, added: “For this night to be a success, it’s down to the old band members to spread the word around in order to get as many old band members and families to attend this great occasion.”
Tickets are £10 each and available from Paul Wynne by calling 07547 548614 or e-mailing pwynne2@hotmail. com.
You can also get them through Colin Wallis on 07816 631136 or cjs6@hotmail.co.uk
