A MUSICAL teenager hopes he is going to hit the right notes in the final of UK Unsigned this Sunday.

Singer-songwriter Drew-Levi Huntsman, 17, of Church Road, Bulphan, hopes to top the bill as he performs two of his own songs and a cover in the final of competition at the Shepherds Bush Empire.

The teenager said: “I am on my school holidays at the moment so am practicing all the time.

“I first heard about this competition through a friend at the beginning of the year and thought it was right up my street because its more for soloists than big bands.

“I got into writing my own songs about two years ago, when I was doing my GCSE music coursework.

“I had to focus on the music of one artist in depth and I chose Elton John because he is a pop artist and does musical theatre, the perfect combination. Lots of people say you can’t do both but he is proof you can.”

Drew-Levi explained his ultimate dream is to be a professional singer-songwriter and he willing to work really hard to be a success.

The talented teenager, who is studying for a diploma in musical theatre at Colin’s Performing Arts School in Romford, added: “This competition is really tough, tougher than anything I have ever done before.

“I really focussed myself and thought I can get to the final of this.

“I am nervous and am going up against about 15 other people in the final in my category, but I am really looking forward to performing.”

Drew-Levi will be performing at the T-Festival on Sunday afternoon and then heading off to the final of UK Unsigned after his performance.
