Borough heroes get to meet PM

TWO of the borough’s community heroes rubbed shoulders with Gordon Brown last Thursday.

Bruce Vickers and Lesley Kirby were invited to 10 Downing Street with Thurrock MP Andrew Mackinlay and cllr Carl Morris for a special Community Heroes reception.

Bruce, the Managing Director at Tony LeVoi Motors in West Thurrock, is a founder member of the Thurrock Community Chest.

Lesley was the driving force behind the Seabrooke Rise Community House, and is also well known for her work with the Grays Riverside Community Association.

Cllr Morris says the reception was set up to pay tribute to people who work hard to make a difference in their communities.

He said: “Community Heroes receptions celebrate those people who make a big difference in their communities, but who do not make headlines in the papers.

“Bruce and Lesley both do exactly that, working tirelessly behind the scenes to improve the lives of others. This was an opportunity to thank them for their efforts.”
