A YOUNG woman was raped in her Chafford Hundred home on Friday afternoon.

The attacker approached the 25-year-old at about 2.30pm on Galleon Road, near the railway station, and followed her home.

Senior Investigating Officer, Det Supt Tracy Hawkings is appealing for witnesses to come forward.

She said: “This woman has been through a traumatic experience and this has been evident throughout our time with her. We have been unable to identify the attacker through our normal lines of enquiry and so are appealing to residents for help.

“We want them to cast their minds back to that Friday afternoon between 2-4pm and tell us if they recall seeing the man with this woman or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area.”

She added: “This attack was committed against a lone woman and we are anxious to identify the person responsible as soon as possible.”

The victim is recovering at home.

Anyone with information in connection with this assault is urged to contact detectives in the incident room at Brentwood on 0300 333 4444.
