A MAN who lost an arm in a railway accident will take part in the London Triathlon on Saturday.
Former soldier Danny Green, 33, will be joining more than 13,000 competitors for the event, which will raise an estimated £3million for charity.
Danny hopes to raise £2,500 for the Help for Heroes organisation.
He said: “I watched a friend take part in the event last year, and he had to learn to swim first.
“I thought, ‘if he can do it, I should give it a go too’.”
Since February, Danny has been following a regime of gym visits, swimming, cycling and running, and has shed two and a half stone.
He said: “I’m eating healthier food, and have quit smoking and drinking. It’s been great to see the results.”
Danny, of Dock Road, Grays, views the swimming section of the event as his biggest challenge and has taken lessons to develop his technique.
