MORE than 45 members of staff from Thurrock Council took part in this year’s National Bike to Work Week.
As well as travelling to and from work each day, many people used their lunchtimes to enjoy a river front cycle ride.
There were many advantages of getting involved with this scheme including, saving money, easing congestion and getting fitter and healthier.
Less car usage also means that during this week the air quality improved and council staff saved 157 miles over the week in the form of mileage not being driven.
The scheme was so popular that Thurrock Council plan to continue with the scheme by holding further Bike to Work days on the last Friday of every month until September.
Requests have also been made to include the popular lunchtime rides.
