TWO borough councillors played it cool in the sun at Collins House fete on Saturday.
Ward councillor for Stanford East and Corringham Town, Coun Danny Nicklen and Stanford-le-Hope West councillor, Eddie Hardiman, joined dozens of others at the Thurrock Council residential home in Springhouse Road, Corringham.
As well as visiting the stalls, the pair joined in the fun at the Aunt Sally stall where Coun Hardiman allowed his younger colleague to cool him off with a sponge full of cooling water.
Coun Nicklen said: "As well as enjoying the fete itself, I took the chance to look around the home and talk with staff members.
"Everyone seemed to be having a great time."
And Coun Hardiman added: "The stalls were busy and there were plenty of people at the fete.
"They were very lucky with the weather and I’m sure the event raised funds for the amenity fund."
Staff at the home had been working hard preparing for the annual event which included various stalls, a barbecue, games and refreshments.
The fete raises funds for Collins House's residents' amenity fund which provides extra money for entertainment.
