TWO Thurrock youngsters have achieved their Silver Chief Scout Awards, the highest achievement award for their age group.
Aaron Lockey, 11, from Tilbury Sea Scout Group started going to Beavers when he was six and became a Scout earlier this year. One challenge that he undertook was to cook a meal for his family.
Sophie Barlow, nine, from 1st Grays Scout Group joined Cub Scouts in October 2007 and took part in abseiling, archery and tracking for the first time. For her global challenge she recycled waste and made posters and invites on the computer for her creative challenge.
Her biggest challenge was swimming, she said.
Aaron and Sophie were recently presented with a certificate of congratulations from Lord Petre, President of Essex Scouts alongside nearly 400 other members of Scouting from across Essex at his home at Ingatestone Hall, Ingatestone.
During this day, over £750 was raised for Little Havens hospice during a penny fayre that was held in the gardens.
