A FOUR-year old girl from Grays entered the Leigh-On-Sea Music Festival as their youngest ever entrant and amazed everyone by winning her category.

Allegra Woolmer-Doe of London Road entered the Under Seven's Violin Solo category as the only entrant.

To be awarded a merit and first place, Allegra needed to earn 80 points from her performance, a target which she surpassed by acheiving 82.

Allegra recieved a toy violin at 9 months old, then her first real one for her Birthday this year.

She has been taught by her mum, professional violin player, Hannah Woolmer, since November 2005.

Hannah said: "I'm really proud, I wasn't expecting her to win as she is only four, but Allegra says she knew she was going to win!

"She is very very pleased, this has spurred her on to practice even more."
