Councillors on patrol

2:58pm Tuesday 13th May 2008

FOUR councillors for the Little Thurrock area teamed up with local Police Community Support Officers to patrol the Socketts Heath shopping Parade and talk to local traders about issues and concerns over anti-social behaviour.

Councillors Joy Redsell and Ben Maney of the Little Thurrock Blackshots ward along with Councillors Rob Gledhill and Stuart St Clair-Haslam from Little Thurrock Rectory spent two hours taking on board the views of local businesses and also undertook a walk about on Blackshots Playing fields, where they spoke with youths and other users of the area.

Councillor Stuart St Clair-Haslam said "The exercise was aimed at showing residents and traders that the Little Thurrock Councillors take concerns over anti social behaviour seriously and are determined to work with our partners to tackle the problem".

Portfolio Holder for Community Safety, councillor Maney, added: "Some useful intelligence was gathered as a result of getting out there and talking to people.

"We have established what appears to be peak times when anti social behaviour occurs in the area and we can now focus attention on this. It is always a pleasure to meet with people face to face and show our support for them too."
