THE father of a young man, who is fighting for his life after being attacked outside a Grays club, has thanked friends and family for their support.
Former WIlliam Edwards School pupil Max Blake, 20, of Grays, is currently at Romford's Queens Hospital after sustaining serious head injuries.
He was beaten outside Grays Working Men's Club in London Road, at 12.20am on Saturday.
Dad, Nicholas, 47, paid tribute to his son.
He said: "I'd like to thank everyone for all their kind comments on the Gazette website. There's been so much goodwill and his girlfriend of five years Alice Reardon would also like to thank everyone for their support.
"I'd also like to thank the police for the job they have done. They've wasted no time what-so-ever.
"He's done sport all his life and is well liked by everyone."
Max plays football for the Greyhound Pub in Orsett and used to throw javelin for Essex and Thurrock Harriers.
