Hammers boss delighted with victory

LAKESIDE Hammers boss, Stuart Douglas, declared himself satisfied with the club's first home Elite League meeting of the season.
"It's good to get the first points on the board, and good to send a decent sized crowd home with a win. There was some good dicing tonight, and Jonas Davidsson -who picked up the rider of the night award - showed some particularly neat passing moves showing just how quick this lad is."
The Hammers were able to see off last year's title favourites, the Swindon Robins, in spite of a typically classy 17 point haul from the irrepressible Leigh Adams riding at number 1 for the visitors.
"Without doubt Leigh is a World class speedway rider, and hats of to the fella, he's quick," added Douglas, " but we have shown that even though we were missing our own World class number 1, Andreas Jonsson, a total team effort is required to win a speedway meeting this year.
"Although we let off the pressure a little bit in the closing stages with the result reasonably secure, we were always in control of the outcome. I'm very proud of the lads, and I'm looking forward to adding to our points tally in a busy racing schedule next week."
Attention turns now to tonight's Elite League Best Pairs meeting at King's Lynn where Hammers will now be using Jonas Davidsson alongside Adam Shields.
