The prisoner found dead in Chelmsford Prison on Thursday has been named as a well-known MMA fighter from Tilbury.
Police received reports on Thursday afternoon of a death at the Springfield Road prison.
A man in his 20s was found dead at the scene.
He has now been identified as Rocky Stenning, of Tilbury.
Rocky was a popular MMA fighter and trained in Tilbury gym, The Martial Academy.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were contacted just after 2.30pm on Thursday, July 19, with reports of the death of a prisoner at HMP Chelmsford.
"The man, aged in his 20s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"His death is currently being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
