POLICE descended on a South Ockendon school this morning after reports of a man with a knife.
A Shaw Primary School, South Ockendon, parent has told the Gazette that a man armed with a knife punctured the tyres of a school bus, full of children, before it was set to leave for a school trip.
The school have refused to comment on any incident.
Police confirmed that a 35-year-old was arrested at the scene and is currently in custody.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "A man has been arrested following an incident in South Ockendon.
"We received a call at around 9.15am on Monday, July 16 reporting a vehicle had been damaged in Avon Green, South Ockendon.
"A 35 year-old man from South Ockendon was arrested a short time later on suspicion of possession of a knife in a public place and criminal damage.
"He is currently in custody."
