A group of scouts from Thurrock were presented with a cheque for £400 from the Rotary Club of Grays.

The rotary club presented the cheque to five of the eight scouts who have been selected to represent Essex Scouts and the UK at the 24th World Scout Jamboree in July 2019.

Chloe Dell, Conner Martin, Jacob Ward, Katherine Franklin, Lewis Coleman, Niamh Culshaw, Rhiannon Dell and Will Ellis are the young people from Essex who will go to the Jamboree.

They are encouraged to fundraise towards their Jamboree fee and they will learn valuable life skills as they do so.

The World Scout Jamboree takes place every four years and in 2019 will be attended by over 35,000 young people from 168 countries at a summit in West Virginia, USA.

It will be hosted jointly between the Boy Scouts of America, Scouts Canada and the Scout Association of Mexico.
