Essex Police are investigating after a 69-year-old woman was assaulted during a burglary in Stanford-le-Hope.
A man forced entry to a home in Corringham Road, Stanford-le-Hope, at 10.45am on Thursday, May 17.
He grabbed the elderly occupant by the throat and she banged her head during the struggle.
The suspect ran off when a neighbour was alerted.
Police have described the suspect as being around 5ft 6ins tall to 5ft 7ins tall, with a tanned complexion, and wore a grey hooded top.
Officers carried out a search of the area and enquiries are ongoing to locate the suspect. The victim was uninjured.
