Three people were hospitalised after a car crashed into a parked Range Rover in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The Range Rover was parked and unattended, on High Road, Fobbing, when a Ford Fiesta crashed into it.

One person was cut free from a Ford Fiesta, with three being taken to hospital.

Two of the casualties had been thrown from the car.

A firefighter who was woken by a crash directly outside his home and immediately rushed to offer assistance.

The crash occurred at 12.30am, outside Corringham Fire Station’s watch manager, Geoff Wheal’s house, who rushed directly to the scene to offer assistance.

Crews freed the trapped female from the vehicle by 1.15am.

Watch Manager Geoff Wheal, Corringham Fire Station, said: “This incident occurred outside my own home – I was awoken by the noise of the collision.

“I went straight outside to see to the people involved, checked on their injuries and made sure someone accompanied each person.

“I then headed to the station, before returning as Officer in Charge.

“This was a very difficult extrication and crews worked extremely hard to make the scene safe and release the female as efficiently as possible.”

One passenger, a 17-year-old girl was taken to hospital in London.

A 19-year-old man and 16-year-old girl had minor injuries, while another 17-year-old girl was also injured.

No arrests have been made at this point, and enquiries are ongoing into the incident and what lead to the collision.

Police have launched an appeal, calling for residents who may have seen the crash, or the black Ford Fiesta, in the build up to the crash to come forward.

The Fiesta was travelling towards Basildon before the crash on High Road.

A police spokesman said: “We are making enquiries into a two-vehicle RTC in High Road, Fobbing, Stanford-le-Hope on Saturday, May 5.

“The report was made at around 12.30am after a Ford Fiesta travelling towards Basildon collided into a parked and unattended Range Rover.

“There were four people in the Ford and all but one were taken to hospital. One passenger, a 17-year-old girl was taken to hospital in London.

“A 19-year-old man and 16-year-old girl had minor injuries, while another 17-year-old girl was also injured.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
