For some, the snow was a burden which meant dangerous road conditions and reduced local services.

But for others in Thurrock, it was a day of fun and curiosity.

Some parents took their children out in the snow to experience the it for the first time.

Michelle Swaep, from South Ockendon, took her son, Oliver, to experience the snow a few days before his first birthday.

Others saw it as an opportunity to take their sledges out for a spin, make snow angels and engage in snowball fights.

There was even some filming for Crufts with Dogtopia, Turner and Pooch and Happy Wagz dog walking companies at One Tree Hill.

On Tuesday, February 28, Essex was hit by the Beast from the East and the snow lasted until Saturday.

It caused delays on the roads, a postponement of bin collections and some schools were closed for most of the week.
