West Thurrock and South Stifford residents are calling on Thurrock Council to improve the lighting on the zebra crossings along London Road.

Residents are concerned that the crossings are poorly lit and it’s difficult for cars to see anyone waiting to cross when it’s dark.

Following the January meeting of the West Thurrock and South Stifford Community Forum, residents gathered at the crossing to highlight the need for better lighting.

Residents were joined by West Thurrock Councillor Oliver Gerrish, he said: “I hope that the council is able to act on this request from residents.

“Visibility of pedestrians is quite poor at a number of zebra crossings along London Road, so some additional lighting would be very helpful.”

Thurrock Council have been contacted for comment.
