A man in his 80s was released from his vehicle by the fire service after they were involved in a crash.

Firefighters rushed to the scene of a crash between two vehicles on the Stifford Interchange, A13.

Arriving at around 1pm on Saturday, December 2, fire crews worked with paramedics to help release the man from his vehicle after they had become trapped.

The casualty was released by 1:25pm and left in the care of the Ambulance Service. Firefighters also made the vehicles safe and left in the scene with the Police.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 12.35pm on 2nd December to a report of a road traffic collision on the A13 at Purfleet.

"Two ambulance crews and an ambulance officer attended. They treated a man, believed to be in his 80s, who had chest pain.

"He was treated at the scene, but did not require transport to hospital."
