Court hearings to have travellers removed off Thurrock land to be held
Two court hearings to have travellers removed from Thurrock land will be held at Chelmsford Magistrates today.
Unwanted encampments have been set up on land off London Road, Grays, and land near the Aveley Football Club towards the end of last month.
The Essex Countywide Traveller Unit, who are acting on behalf of Thurrock Council, issued directions to leave to both camps which were ignored.
The unit will now head to Chelmsford Magistrates Court to obtain court orders to have them removed.
The camps were served with court summons on September 5 ahead of the hearings today.
