Work continues to re-establish the library service and Bata Heritage Centre Museum in East Tilbury but residents can still access lots of services.

A small library service is being run in East Tilbury Village Hall every Thursday and Friday from 10am to 3.30pm.

Baby Rhyme time continues at 11am and the Knit and Natter group continues to meet on Fridays at 2pm in the Hall and Citizens advice are still offering their support and services on alternate Thursdays.

Cllr Sue MacPherson, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods said: “We are so grateful to the Post Office, The Village Hall and of course the community for all the support they have given and continue to give.”

The Bata Heritage Centre has received £5,000 from Thurrock CVS to assist with restoring smoke damaged items.

Mike Tarbard, Chairman of the Bata Heritage Centre said: "We are fortunate to have received a £5,000 grant from Thurrock CVS to assist with restoring smoke damaged items.

“We are also finalising a grant application to the Heritage Lottery Fund to help us recover from this dreadful fire.

“We are trying to keep 'business as usual' but it isn't easy when you are working out of a shoe box.

"We continue to be grateful for the support that we are receiving from the Council, 1 Big Storage and the community at large."
