Three people have been arrested and police are still searching for a suspect after a man was attacked with a machete in Tilbury on Thursday night.

Police were called by the ambulance service to an incident in Brennan Road, Tilbury, at 9:30pm where a man had allegedly been attacked with a machete.

The blade was later recovered and the victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries on his head and arms.

Three arrests were made, which were linked to the attack, but none of them have been charged with the attack on the victim.

A 17 year old boy was arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault but was released without charge.

A further two arrests were made for drug-related offences; one man, 25, was arrested of suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs - all classified under a Class A- whilst another man, 18, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

These two men remain in custody awaiting questioning.

The suspect of the assault has been described as black with a moustache and was black North Face jacket with blue jeans.

He has also been described as having a lisp.

Following the incident he made off on foot in the direction of Fort Road.

Keys to a silver BMW were also taken during the incident. The vehicle was not stolen.
