Motorists are advised to avoid a busy road in Grays this afternoon after reports of a serious crash.
The crash is believed to have happened in Broadway, Grays at about 11am this morning and it involved two vehicles, a blue Ford Turbo truck and a black Audi Q7.
Police officers have closed the road while the scene is cleared and ambulance crews are on site.
One eye-witness reported that a woman suffered a head injury and this has now been confirmed by the ambulance service.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We received a call at 11 this morning to reports of a traffic incident in Broadway.
"We sent an ambulance officer, rapid response vehicle and ambulance to the scene.
"We have taken a female patient to Basildon & Thurrock Hospital for further assessment and treatment for a possible head injury."
