A CHARITY gala ball will be held in the borough for mental health charities later this year.
Robert Ives, 23, South Ockendon, is organising the event at Lakeside Park Inn on September 7 when proceeds will go to The Mind Organisation.
He said: "I suffered from mental health issues in the past and Thurrock Mind helped me a lot, so it's nice to give something back."
Robert Ives, who started running his own home hairdressing business, Salon Select, when he was 17-years-old is no stranger to raising funds for charity.
He climbed the Himalayas in 2005 when he raised £3,000 for Childline and is also planning to climb Kilimanjaro, Africa in November to raise money for Sense International.
There are 130 places available for the gala ball and tickets are £60 per person, with £30 going towards the three course meal and wine. There will also be pianist playing and a disco afterwards, with plenty of opportunities to network.
If you are interested in the gala or sponsoring Mr Ives contact Salon Select on 01708 670685.
