THURROCK Council has agreed a council tax increase of almost five per cent.

At a meeting councillors across all parties agreed the increase of 4.98 per cent for the year 2017/18.

The new council tax imposed by the council will see a different increase for residents based on which council tax band their home falls into.

For a Band A house the tax will go up to £817.74 per year, this is an increase of £38.10 per year and £0.73p for each week.

For residents with a Band B house the tax will go up to £954.03 per year, this is an increase of £44.45 per year and £0.85p every week.

For a Band C property the council tax will go up to £1,090.32, this is an increase of £50.80 per year and £0.98p per week.

For a house in the tax Band D, the tax will go up to £1,226.61, this is an extra £57.15 per year and an additional £1.10 per week.

For a Band E house the tax will go up to £1,499.19, this works out as an extra £69.85 per year and an extra £1.34 per week.

For a Band F house the tax will go up to £1,771.77, this is an additional £82.55 per year and an extra £1.59 each week.

For a property in the council tax Band G, the tax will go up to £2,044.35 this works out as an extra £95.25 each year and an additional £1.83 each week.

For a Band H house the tax will go up to £2,453.22, these home owners will be paying an extra £114.30 each year and £2.20 extra every week.
