Thurrock Foodbank is holding a Collection Challenge in Fobbing.

The foodbank is asking residents to donate one thousand items of food in just one day.

The collection day is Saturday March 11.

The charity group aims to collect 1,000 items which is enough food to keep Thurrock Foodbank supplied for an average week.

All the food donated is to help Thurrock people who are in need.

Volunteers will be knocking on doors in Fobbing on Saturday March 11 to collect food and there will be food collection points at the White Lion, Lion Hill, Fobbing and the Haywain, High Road, Fobbing all week where residents can also drop off food items.

The foodbank needs non-perishable items and the focus is currently on long- life fruit juice, tea bags, long-life whole milk, tinned fruit, tinned sweetcorn, tinned potatoes, tinned rice pudding and tinned fish.
