A CAT had a lucky escape after being trapped in a car engine.

A driver took their van to the Advanced Service Centre, Askews Farm Lane, Grays after a cat managed to get itself stuck in the engine of the van.

The vehicle was rushed to the garage yesterday and it took the mechanics around 30 minutes to free to cat from the van.

The garage is owned by Terry Reynolds and Nicky Carrington.

Terry, 31, said: “We do all types of work here including decatting vehicles.

“It was great that we were able to get the cat out of alive and we have been speaking with the owners who have said that the cat is doing fine now.

“While we were getting the cat out we realised that we needed to be filming it because it was so random.

“We had to remove lots of parts of the vehicle. Once we had got the cat out we gave it something to eat and drink and the owner of the van took it home.”
