A MEDICAL centre is set to change hands in just a number of weeks.

Residents were sent letters regarding the Chadwell Medical Centre, Brentwood Road, Chadwell St Mary, notifying them that the current doctors Dr Mohile and Dr Lie will no longer use the centre.

This will be enforced from Friday March 31. A new doctor or group is expected to be arranged by Saturday April 1.

At the current time there has not been a new doctor or group identified for the centre.

A spokesman for the NHS said: “Following a national funding review by NHS England and a break down in the partnership of the two doctors at Chadwell Medical Centre, the current contract held by Dr Mohile and Dr Lie will end on 31 March 2017. The new contract will be delivered from April 1.

“We recognise that this may be unsettling for patients, however they will still be able to access primary care services in the usual way, and the current nursing team, Practice Manager and reception staff will be able to support them.

“NHS England is now seeking an alternative short term provider who will take over the running and management of the practice and we will write to patients again to update on further developments. We will also be working with Thurrock Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and other key stakeholders to agree longer term plans for the delivery of these services.

“We are aware that this is not an ideal situation and will be working with the existing practice staff to minimise disruption to patients. Patients were written to on January 10 explaining the changes taking place and if they wish to speak to someone they can contact the surgery or contact: NHS England on 0300 311 22 33 or email england.contactus@nhs.net or Thurrock Healthwatch on 01375 389883.”
