A FATHER of three has covered his home in twinkly Christmas lights to raise cash in memory of his late grandad.

Jamie Bagge, 31, of Whitmore Avenue, Stifford Clays held a special event to turn on the lights on and around his home, and he welcomed his nan, Maurine Weaver, to turn on the lights.

Jamie’s grandad, David Weaver, passed away due to lung cancer in September this year.

Jamie said he wanted to give something back to the community, he is also raising cash for the Stifford Clays Primary School, Whitmore Avenue, Stifford Clays.

The school opens on Christmas Day to serve dinner to elderly people in the community.

Mr Bagg said: “Last year we raised £876 for the school and this year I want to raise £1,000 and give half to the school and half to the Macmillan Cancer Support? charity.

“I want to give back to the nurses at the charity that helped my family, through the tough times.

“We currently have a musical wishing well outside my house and people can place money in the wishing well.”

He was joined by his partner Jodie Wilde, and their children, Katie Bagge, 11, Jack Bagge, 8, and five-week-old Alfie Bagge to help with the switch on.

He added: “Nan was over the moon with all the Christmas lights and she was happy to press the magic button.

“It was a great night, and I was surprised with the turn out so many people came to see the switch on.”
