PRIMARY schools in Thurrock have been recognised for their efforts in encouraging more parents to leave the car at home and do the school run to and from school in other ways.
Cathy Kent, mayor of Thurrock presented the awards to those schools who have achieved bronze, silver and gold in the Modeshift STARS scheme.
The initiative is a National Schools Awards scheme, established to recognise schools who have demonstrated excellence in supporting sustainable travel.
