PREPARATIONS are under way for Essex's 'largest, oldest and most popular' Diwali celebrations.
Due to growing popularity - last year's event attracted more than 350 people - the Chelmsford Indian Association will celebrate the ancient Hindu "festival of the lights" at a new venue this year - the Marconi Hall in Beehive Lane. The celebrations will include cultural performances and Indian cuisine.
Tickets for the festivities, which take place from 4pm to 11pm on Saturday, November 5, are priced £15 for adults and £10 for under-16s, with under-5s going free. For more details, email chelmsfordindians@gmail.com
Organisers are also looking for performers for the event - anyone interested should send details of their act to register4cia@gmail.com
